I haven’t used a vacuum sealer before, so I have no point of reference, but this handheld sealer works great for us. It arrived a week ago and I decided to test it by sealing some chicken breasts and half an onion. The chicken breasts are still securely sealed in the freezer one week later, but I feel like the onion is the true test.I use half an onion per week for a specific meal prep. I usually double-ziploc the unused half in the refrigerator until the next meal prep. The refrigerator stinks like onion all week, and the onion itself expands and ages a bit in those 7 days. Not this time! After 7 days, the vacuum-sealed onion in the refrigerator is unchanged, and you can’t even get a whiff of onion smell when you open the door to get something. The onion doesn’t appear to have off-gassed, as the bag looks completely unchanged, and the cut surface of the onion is as flat as it was on day 1. The sealer and bags definitely work and are totally worth the affordable price. It’s small, so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it it for large households that do large quantities of food storage, but it’s perfect for two a dog. I also like that it’s portable and rechargeable, so we can take it with us on our frequent road trips to keep snacks fresh. Maybe if you have a large household that food preps and likes to travel, this can be your “to-go” vacuum sealer. We are now looking forward to our weekly meal prep staying fresher for longer.I do with it came with more information about care and maintenance. The manual is very minimal. I’d like to know cleaning guidelines for the bags, and what to do in case liquid accidentally gets sucked up into the sealer. But those questions don’t change the fact that it does exactly what it says it will do, and does it pretty well.Included is a picture of the week-old vacuum-sealed onion. Sorry – I didn’t think to take a picture on the first day, but it looks the same anyway.
