My “house”, an 1975 permanently located mobile home, is a relatively small home that is definitely NOT as “fireproof” or as well built as some of the homes I have lived in for most of my 89 years. I truly do like it and suits me and my 2 cats nicely. We live in a retirement neighborhood of literally 100’s of similar homes. For years I have lived in areas of massive fires, floods, storms and have to say, this location is less likely than most of those to be endangered with fire, flood but a bit more at risk for hurricane risks. Even so, we have been very fortunate so far. However, THESE devices are the first I have seen in Walmart for specific for kitchen fires. I am a retired RN, very conscious of the many ways seniors can get in trouble at home and the first time I saw them offered on line at Walmart I bought both the detector and the unit for kitchen fires. They have added to my home protections but while any of those may not take me may down, at least I can feel protected for some very specific issues. By the way, IMPORTANT, the detector NEVER has to have the battery replaced for 10 years. One less fall risk!!!!!
