2-in-1 Starlink Mini Mount – Integrated Pipe Adapter & Standard Mini Kickstand with Magnetic Adapter and 1/4″-20 Adapter, Starlink Mini Accessories Kit for RV/Yacht/Guardrails
$ 16.52
I really like our Starlink Mini but felt the included stand could have been designed a bit better. This stand exceeds build-quality expectations and, though listed as a 2 in 1 “mount,” it is really a 3 in 1, sort of. However, there is an issue to consider. Let’s review.Quality: Anyone who had not used a Starlink Mini before would think this was OEM. The assembly is strong, snaps smartly into place, has brass threaded inserts for the magnets, and includes a metal (aluminum?) tripod adapter (1/4-20 UNC) which also accommodates the third magnet.Utility: Not having to swap the stand with the Mini’s included pole adapter in order to use a tripod mount is very convenient. Furthermore, if there is a need to secure the Mini to a vehicle for stability, the magnets easily spin into and out of place. If you like fidget spinners, you’ll enjoy attaching the magnets. With or without the magnets attached, everything fits nicely within a slim, purpose-built case while attached to the Mini. The 3rd mounting option is to use the built-in pipe adapter. However, the pole will need to be slightly less than 1.5 inches in diameter to fit within the aluminum insert. One reason I said “sort of.”Points of interest: If the magnets are in place, neither the stand or tripod adapter can be utilized. Also of note is the magnets are not strong enough, in my opinion, to trust atop a vehicle at highway speeds. I don’t think they were intended for that use case, anyway.Con: Using the stand included with the mini, in the same location, there were no issues with regard to “tilt.” Sadly, this stand orients the dish 1/2 inch too high at the top, causing the notification. Granted, one can easily shim the bottom with something lying around but, at this price, that should not be necessary. Not everyone will agree and that’s perfectly okay. I am a bit more critical than most when it comes to FFD. It’s worth removing 1/2 of a star over this but not a whole one.Summary: This really is a very nice stand with only one small-ish design flaw. I rarely have this much fun evaluating or reviewing something and was bummed about the “tilt” issue. The quality is indeed top-shelf.Would I recommend this to a friend? 100% Yes, with notes.Would I buy it as a gift? Absolutely.Would I change anything? The stand’s orientation issue.
